November 22, 2003 was a historic moment for our company, but we did not realize it until later. On that cold and snowy day before the 100th football game between rivals Michigan and Ohio State, a homemade chili recipe was introduced and served to some hungry tailgaters. Those who tasted the chili raved that it was the best chili they have ever had and began asking if we could start a tradition of serving the chili during the fall months at our football tailgates.

The following year, more and more people began to ask when they could taste our special homemade chili again; and that was in August and September when the temperatures were 80 degrees! So when we served our chili the second time, not only did people continue to rave about the taste, but brought their friends and family to taste it as well. As we looked around the tailgate setting that normally had about 25-30 people, we were amazed that well over 75 were there to have a taste of our chili.

Each year since then, the word continued to spread and our tailgates began to get bigger and bigger for the games that we were serving the chili. Friends of friends of friends began showing up and it was then, in the third year that we knew we might be onto something very special. People continued to echo how much they enjoyed the taste and began to ask where they could buy it. We had people that we did not even know start to offer money on the spot to purchase what was left in our large simmering pots and with that, we realized a business opportunity was in front of us.

Over the next few years, we fine-tuned the homemade recipe to ultimate perfection and continued serving it at football tailgates. The tailgates grew so fast that we had to start making large batches days ahead of time just too not run out. Now, six years later after countless hours of work, test marketing, and organizing the business, our chili business is born.
